Every day tens of thousands of Americans put their lives on the line to protect freedom.
On every continent across the globe they serve and protect, stepping into harms way to help keep freedom alive. For hundreds of years they have stood strong and proud, fighting to keep us safe. From the first colonies to the global community we now know, these men and women have selflessly given their lives to help build what we take for granted today.
The birth of the American military machine took place in 1775 to protect the colonists. Today there are countless thousands of brave men and women risking their lives every day. They leave their homes and loved ones behind to serve and protect our freedom. They are miles from home, facing struggles and challenges every hour of every day.
We salute these heroes with holidays and parades, and write songs and stories to praise their sacrifice. Our country has constructed great monuments in their honor, building long walls to hold the names of those who did not return.
Countless groups and organizations have been established to help them and respond to their needs. A country built on the blood and bodies of millions of men and women must never forget the sacrifice they have made.
Today more then ever in our countries history, these men and women need our support and blessings. Even though they are in Iran & Irak or another area, they still bleed and die. They come home broken and scared from their toils.
We must all remember them, welcome them home with open arms and caring hearts. They are the ones who put their lives on hold. They left their husbands and wives and children, so that we would not have to.
When you look up into the warm evening sky, give thanks to those who are not here.
