The butterfly house was established in 1995, and opened its doors to visitors September 1998. This house was named after Sophia M. Sachs. Mrs. Sachs was the widow of Sam Sachs, the founder of the Sachs Electric Company. The butterfly house is a nonprofit organization and runs mainly with a volunteer staff. This house is located in St. Louis, Mo in the county’s Faust Park. The butterfly house is designed to be a natural habitat that is dedicated to educating the public about the butterfly and to aid in a better understanding of the relationships between plants and animals.

The butterfly house has a lot of visitors that come through their doors. At the butterfly house you can participate in activities, do some crafts, or play a game with the kids.
