Hot Potting is soaking in one of the many hot springs that are found throughout Yellowstone National Park. Although this may seem like a harmless activity to do it is illegal and can, in many cases, be deadly. With all of the wildlife and apparent dangers that are evident not everyone realizes how dangerous it can be to go hot potting in Yellowstone National Park, and therefore do not heed the posted warnings that are present.
Although the water may not seem very hot to the touch originally most of the hot springs found in Yellowstone National Park contain waters that are deadly or and the very least cause serious injury. A lot of the temperatures in these hot springs are well over 100 degrees in temperature. There have been both deaths and serious injuries reported due to the fact that individuals do not heed to the dangers that are associated with hot potting in these hot springs. Although most of the time it is illegal to go hot potting in Yellowstone there are a few springs where tourists are permitted to go hot potting legally.
Individuals should make sure that they know which ones are safe to soak in before entering a hot spring. Although there are a few hot springs that one can legally soak in there are other things to take into consideration. Many of these hot springs can in some cases make individuals ill due to organisms that grow within the warm temperatures. Individuals need to understand all of the warnings that are associated with hot potting before jumping in for a nice relaxing soak.
