This is a salute to the men and women who fight for our freedom. Thank you is the first thing that we need to say to all of them. They go out there and fight hard for the freedom that we have. They work long and hard hours while on duty. Soldiers go out and fight for what we do not have the courage to do. They see many things that would frighten us, and they do it so that we do not have to. What we see on the television is only a part of what they go through. They fight because they feel they have to and not necessarily because they want to. They are put through worse conditions than we could ever imagine, and do so with little complaint. They are only human. Many of these men and women have families at home, and sometimes they do not come home. They are prisoners of war or have died defending our freedom.
We take so much for granted as Americans, and freedom is one of them. We do this because it is given to us; the men and women who fight for our freedom have what it takes to get the job done, and we salute you for that. So next time you pass a soldier or a veteran, smile and wave and know that they were part of something a lot larger than we could ever have imagined. They are the ones that protect us and give us what we have as far as freedom. It is who we are and why we are proud to call ourselves Americans.
