It has been recorded that the Champ has been seen as early as the 1600s. There have been over 300 sightings of the Champ that are recorded. He is supposed to be a sea monster that lives in Lake Champlain. It is believed that he is some kind of a dinosaur that could live off of the fish that are in the lake.
There have been numerous pictures that were taken of him and some have said that he resembles the Loch Ness Monster. However, others disagree with that theory. If he is a dinosaur then it stands to reason that he is not alone, because obviously he could not be alive for over millions of years. He would have to be a descendant of those that lived way back then.
There are some who believe that there is such an animal as Champ while others say that it could be a trunk from a tree. They say that the lake is certainly large enough and deep enough to allow Champ to live there. With all of the modern technology that is available today you would think that someone would be able to come up with something concrete like underwater pictures. Except for one story dated 1819 that there were some farmers who lost some of their livestock to something or someone who dragged them down to the lake, there is no proof of Champ having a desire to eat humans or any other animal except for those that are in the lake.
