However, it is not as easy as it sounds. Many hot spots in Yellowstone National Park are way too hot for anyone to go into, and some people have died because they ignored the warnings.
There are, however, three spots that you can go hot potting in Yellowstone and they are Three River, the most popular because it is easy to get to, Boiling River, and Madison, which are located near some campgrounds.
Hot pots are only usable after the hot water has overflowed into cooler water. Most of the hot spots water are hotter than 200 degrees. Water boils at 212 degrees, so you certainly don’t want to jump into water that is 200 degrees, you will not survive, and if you do, you will be seriously burned.
If you are truly looking for a place to go hot potting, seek out a park ranger or guide and ask them where it is allowed and where it is not. Most of the very dangerous hot spots have been roped off with no admittance allowed, so don’t try sneaking into one of those places. Do what your guide instructs you to do and you can have a very enjoyable experience. Yellowstone is an awesome place to visit with a lot of different things to do and to see, besides just hot potting.
