St. Louis, Missouri is filled with wonderful attractions and fun things to see and do. The St. Louis Zoo is home to many wild and amazing creatures. The zoo has six major zones including the River's Edge, The Wild, Discovery Corner, Historic Hill, Red Rocks, and Lakeside Crossing. Each different section of the zoo houses its own selection of animals, as well as birds and insects. Children and families can choose to check out the larger and more fierce animals of the zoo, or they can head over to the Discover Corner and have a more up-close meeting with some of the zoo's more gentler animals. When the sun is high in the sky and your legs are weak from hunger, Lakeside Crossing is set in the center of the zoo, offering its visitors food and shopping opportunities, as well as some rest and relaxation time.
St. Louis, Missouri is also home to the Missouri Botanical Garden. The Botanical Garden houses 79 massive acres of rare botanical, horticultural, and historical materials. As the oldest botanical garden in the US, the Missouri Botanical Garden is a National Historic Landmark. The Garden also includes a Japanese Garden, filled with beautiful plants and water ways. The Japanese Garden's lake is also filled with the Japanese fish, Koi. Other sections of the garden include the Children's Garden and the Climatron.
St. Louis, Missouri is also well known for its Butterfly House. The Butterfly House is home to many different varieties and species of butterflies and moths, as well as home to quite a few rare and beautiful plants. A few of the butterflies you can expect to see there include the Orange Barred Tiger, The Achilles Morpho, The Greta Mormon, and the Monarch.
