What to Do When You are in Denver, Colorado

While visiting the city of Denver, Colorado you will find an almost endless stream of fun and interesting activities to do. Denver appeals to almost anyone with a sense of adventure and a desire to try new things.

If you are a music lover you can take in some of Denver's free concerts, which feature everything from classical to jazz artists. Denver's Office of Cultural Affairs offers a program called Doors Open Denver, which serves to make the city's many historical buildings available for the public to tour.

For sports fans, you won’t want to miss the 2009 Curling Championships, which also serve as the curling trials for the 2010 Winter Olympics. Depending on the time of year you visit, you can also take in a Denver Broncos football game, a Denver Nuggets basketball game, a Colorado Rockies baseball game, or even a Colorado Avalanche hockey game.

Animal lovers will especially enjoy visiting the Denver Zoo. It boasts of over 750 different species of exotic animals. Or try heading for the famous Bison and Elk herds on the outskirts of Denver to see the majestic creatures living in their natural habitat. To round out your nature tour you could also visit Denver’s Botanical Gardens.

Any visit to Denver is considered incomplete without taking a tour of the Coors brewery. Seeing how Coors beers are made is very interesting, especially if it happens to be your favorite brew.

Architectural enthusiasts will be interested to know that Denver’s state capitol building was modeled after the capitol in Washington, D.C. While in downtown Denver try taking a tour of the Governor’s Residence or the Boettcher Mansion.

For the thrill-seekers, you must ride the roller coasters at Denver's Six Flags Elitch Gardens. The amusement park also has a new ride that simulates snowboarding for the adventurous ones to try.

All in all, Denver truly does have a wide range of entertainment and events that occur all year long. So, whether you are a winter enthusiast or not, there is always plenty to do in Denver any of the four seasons.
