While visiting Denver, Colorado for the first time, you should first be aware of the effects of the high elevation. You may need a day or two to get used to it, so if you are planning on some extremely physical activities, please be aware that you may feel tired and even somewhat sick during the first day or two.
After you feel better, you can really start to have fun by viewing some of the over 40 museums in the area. The largest one is the Denver Art Museum, located at 14th Avenue and Bannock St. You won't be able to miss, it since it looks like a tall castle made of shiny gray tiles. Bring your walking shoes, because there are seven whole floors of artwork to enjoy. The city bus is the easiest way to get around the Denver metro area.
The 16th Street Mall is Denver’s main shopping area, with plenty of dining and entertainment stops that cover 16 blocks of the downtown area from the Market to Broadway Street. Stroll down the extra wide sidewalks and enjoy the scenery. Do you love flowers and plants? If so, you’ll love the botanical garden paradise in the middle of city.
You can also watch where the miners of old exchanged their gold and silver nuggets into coins and ingots during the gold rush years in the 1800s. The building was later bought by the US Treasury in 1863 and transformed into a US Mint.
Colorado offers just about every outdoor activity (except surfing) at the beach. You won’t have any problem finding a place to ski, bike, hike or climb around the mountains.
