In the United States, people are fortunate to have some very wonderful zoos. There is a great organization called the Association of Zoos and Aquariums which supports those dedicated to provide the best care for animals. The AZA was founded in 1924 for a better future for all living things. Look for their symbol when you visit a zoo, it is only given to those that accomplish standards for wildlife conservation, education, and excellent animal care.
Some of the best zoos in the United States include: New York’s Central Park Zoo, the San Diego Zoo, the Smithsonian National Zoological Park, the Saint Louis Zoo, Lincoln Park Zoo, Fort Worth Zoo, the SeaWorld Adventure Parks, the Los Angles Zoo and the Philadelphia Zoo. Many of our zoos provide learning actives for children. They give millions of children the chance to see animals they otherwise may never see. These zoos are also offer education in the form of question and answer sessions with staff and the zoo veterinarians. Among the top ten for children include: Lowery Park Zoo in Tampa, Florida, the San Diego Zoo, the Oklahoma City Zoological Park and Botanical Garden, the Brookfield Zoo in Illinois, the Phoenix Zoo, Cincinnati’s Zoo, the Bronx Zoo, the Toledo Zoo in Ohio, Fort Wayne’s Children’s Zoo, and the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. These zoos are dedicated to children to learn and experience all a zoo has to offer.
All the zoos in the United States have something wonderful to offer. The zoo experience is for everyone. If it has been years since you visited a zoo, make time to go to your local zoo. It will be a day to remember for a long time to come.
