Exploring New England Au Naturale

No, we don't mean exploring in your birthday suit, we mean exploring the best that nature has to offer. New England is one of the few places in the United States that can claim to experience the fullness of every calendar season. Add to that the beautiful topography of the area; mountains, lakes, fields, rivers, forests. This is one place where experiencing nature can be done to its fullest capacity.

The Boston Harbor Islands are a very unique place to go camping. The Boston skyline can be seen from four of these islands; Bumpkin, Grape, Lovells and Peddocks. All four of these islands also have campgrounds set up so that even inexperienced campers can enjoy this trip. The City's skyline is a sight to behold at night, off in the distance with the sounds of nature all around.

Another place that charges a fee, but you certainly won't mind is the Innermost House in Ipswich River Wildlife Sanctuary. Just a trip to the sanctuary alone is worth the price of admission for $30 per night. The Innermost House is an actual cabin that sits within the sanctuary and that is what you would be renting. Once the gates close at night, the sanctuary is all yours. You will need to bring all your own food and water though.

We have found a little piece of camping heaven about 25 miles north of Boston. This is the little known (for now) forest campsite at the Harold Parker State Forest. The forest is rarely crowded and when camping you have the trails and the trees pretty much to yourself. This creates a more intimate camping experience and relaxing get away.
